Mr Men project
I decided to start a mini project, focusing primarily on book covers. A friend suggested that itd be cool to see Mr Men characters but in more of a fashion illustrative style. My main goal was to reimagine these characters wit my own little twist. But I wanted them to still be recognisable.
Little Miss Tidy

For Little Miss Tidy, I illustrated her to have a 90s preppy style. I kept her signature pigtails and blue bows, her pink and blue purse and her pink heels. I tried to a reference her character description of being organised, forgetful and oblivious. Hence why her pose is a powerful strut however she prefers to look at the audience and not at where shes going.

Little Miss Tiny
|
For Little Miss Tiny I wanted to go for a modern glam look. She is short, round and pink. Her key features are her height and her pink bow. I illustrated her in a blue jumpsuit, with a structured corset on top. I wanted her look to feel fun,

Little Miss Fabulous
|
For little miss fabulous I referenced drag pageantry. Her big blonde behive hairdo, her loud personality and her heeled boots gave me the confidence that only a drag queen has. Like Miss Fabulous has definitely ran in those heels. I dressed her in all icy blue, this complimented her orange skin colour gorgeously.

Mr Nobody

For Mr. nobody I referenced more of a vintage androgynous style, I tried to reference his inability to be seen by the other Mr's and Mrs'. To illustrate an invisibly character was hard because I didn't personally want to just leave it as a line art piece, so i used Watercolors in a grey-scale palette.

Mr Tall
|
For Mr. Tall I wanted to illustrate him in a Gothic glam look, his main traits are obviously his blue skin, red shoes and his long stature. Pulling from goth runway fashion I thought a mesh blouse and a harness would be interesting. His disco-ball handbag was a nod to his original round shape.

Mr Messy
|
Mr Messy's design was influenced by maximalist fashion, which is known to mix patters, layers and sometimes colours. I learned that using mostly a monochromatic colour palette made these outfits work better. I pulled from his pink colour and accented it with orange, yellow, and green. He also references 70s glam-rock with his flares, fluffy hair and platforms.

Little Miss Sparkle

Little Miss Sparkle's design was inspired by 70s glam rock, I liked the bold patterns used for stars the time so it felt fitting. I tried to pull in her sparkly skin but it ending up loosing her features so I decided against it.
